BV Jagadeesh is a name well known to Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs. After successful stints at Novell and 3COM, BV co-founded Exodus Communications, at one point one of the Valley's most valuable companies. BV left Exodus in 2000 to join an emerging web acceleration networking technology company called Netscaler.
GGV's Scott Bonham first met BV at a technology conference in 2002. Blown away by what he saw in both BV and the Company's success to date, Scott reached out to BV and began a dialogue that culminated in GGV leading an expansion round of investment for Netscaler in 2003.
"When I first met BV, Netscaler had an impressive roster of customers -- numerous Fortune 500 companies and many of the Valley's most prominent names -- and an even more impressive foundation for growth," says Bonham. "The company's management team as a whole and technology platform were both world-class."
"Scott played a key role in introducing Netscaler to several of our initial customers and partners in Asia," says Jagadeesh. "GGV was a great investor I look forward to working with again."
When it was acquired by Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS) in August of 2005, Netscaler counted more than 500 enterprise customers and estimated that on any given day up to 75% of all Internet users passed through a Netscaler system. The acquisition was a key part of Citrix's expansion into the web acceleration space, and the Netscaler platform continues to play a key role in the Citrix product line.
